About · sustainability

Growth without the guilt.

An airport that takes its footprint seriously — independently assessed, publicly reported, and designed with the community.

  • EcoVadis assessed — ahead of sector norms

Commitments

Four promises, published yearly

  • Net zero operations

A published pathway for scope 1 and 2 emissions, reported annually.

  • Quieter aircraft

Encouraging the quietest fleet the market offers on every route.

  • Community noise

Independent monitoring and an open consultative committee.

  • Surface access

Making the train and bus the easy choice for passengers and staff.

Noise

Heard, not just measured

Flight paths are being redesigned using satellite-based procedures, which concentrate noise more precisely. The airport publishes modelled contours and takes objections in public sessions before anything is submitted.

  • Three arrival route options under consultation
  • Independent noise monitoring
  • Continuous descent approaches where possible

Questions

Environment questions

Will there be more night flights?

Any change to night flying would require a separate consultation and a change to the airport's operating practices. Nothing is agreed.

How is noise measured?

Through permanent monitoring stations around the airport, plus the CAA's own tracking data. Results are reviewed by the Consultative Committee.

What about carbon?

The airport reports its own scope 1 and 2 emissions annually and is independently assessed through EcoVadis.
